Overhead Reach (Shoulder Flexion)
included trunk (hip → shoulder) to upper-arm (shoulder → elbow) angle at full overhead reach.
Why this matters
Overhead reach combines shoulder flexion, thoracic extension, and lat length. Restriction limits overhead pressing and snatch positions and drives compensatory lumbar extension.
What good looks like
The arm finishes in line with the trunk overhead without the lower back arching to "fake" the range.
Common faults
- Arm stops short of vertical — lat/shoulder/thoracic restriction.
- Ribs flare / back arches to reach overhead.
Coaching cues
- Test against a wall with the lower back flat.
