Performance Screening
A screening battery rather than a sport: reactive strength from jumps, and functional mobility from a set of end-range tests. Every athlete is measured the same way, so a re-test months later is a fair comparison.
Movements and measurements supported
9 movements, each with its own phases and its own measurements. Every one links to the reference article that explains what it means and what good looks like.
Drop Jump (RSI)
1Countermovement Jump (mRSI)
1Overhead / Deep Squat
3Included hip–knee–ankle angle at the bottom of the squat.
Thighs at/below horizontal (knee ≈ <90° interior at full depth)
See the course →Trunk line (hip → shoulder) vs vertical (squat) or lateral lean vs vertical (single-leg).
Trunk roughly parallel to the shin; excessive forward lean suggests ankle/hip restriction.
See the course →Frontal-plane hip–knee–ankle angle under load (≈180° = straight; lower = deviation).
Knee tracks over the foot (≈ −5° to +5°)
See the course →Ankle Dorsiflexion (knee-to-wall)
1Single-Leg Squat
2Frontal-plane hip–knee–ankle angle under load (≈180° = straight; lower = deviation).
Knee over foot (≈ −5° to +5°)
See the course →Trunk line (hip → shoulder) vs vertical (squat) or lateral lean vs vertical (single-leg).
Minimal lateral lean (< ~5°)
See the course →Hip Hinge
1Overhead Reach
1Standing Hip Flexion
1Prone Hip Extension
1A typical session
The same five steps every time, which is what makes one session comparable with the next.
- 1
Capture
Film each movement on a phone, from the lateral and anterior views the measurements need. Tag every clip with its view and the movement it shows, and the tools for that movement appear.
- 2
Pin the phases
Each movement has its own phases, declared by the pack. Step to the frame for each one and pin it, so every measurement is taken at the same moment every time.
- 3
Measure
Work through the 10 measurements this pack declares. Each one carries its own on-screen guide: where to click, what the landmarks are, and the mistakes to avoid.
- 4
Interpret
Every value is compared with evidence-informed reference ranges and placed in a band, from inside the range to worth attention. Findings are patterns that may affect performance or loading, offered alongside your judgement rather than in place of it.
- 5
Report
Produce the athlete's report: the measurements, what they mean, the frames they came from, and what to work on. Share it as a private link or a PDF.
Sample findings
A few of the patterns this pack can surface. These are patterns that may affect performance or loading, put next to your judgement rather than in place of it. They are not diagnoses.
Low RSI
Long contact time or low rebound.
Low mRSI
Slow contraction relative to jump height.
Limited Depth
Can't reach parallel — mobility/control limit.
Excessive Lean
Large forward lean — ankle/hip restriction or control.
Knee Collapse
Marked frontal-plane knee deviation.
Limited DF
Restricted ankle dorsiflexion.
What the report contains
The report is generated from the session itself, so it holds only what was measured. For this pack that is:
- Summary
- The headline for this session in a few lines: what was measured, what sits inside its reference range, and what is worth a conversation.
- Every measurement, with its range
- All 10 measurements the pack declares, each with the value taken, the evidence-informed reference range it is compared with, and where in that range it sits.
- Left and right compared
- Side pairs are compared measurement by measurement, and a difference wide enough to matter is called out rather than left for the reader to spot.
- The frames the numbers came from
- Each measurement is shown on the frame it was taken from, with the lines drawn on, so the athlete can see what was measured and a second analyst can check it.
- What to work on
- Findings carry the cues and drills the pack pairs with them, written for the athlete rather than for the file.
Suitable professionals
Performance Screening analysis is used by people who already make these judgements and want the numbers alongside them.
- Strength and conditioning coaches
- Physiotherapists and rehabilitation teams
- Academy and team sport support staff
- Return-to-play clinicians
- Testing and talent identification programmes
Everything on this page is read from the Performance Screening pack that MoveIQ ships, so it stays in step with the app as the pack grows.
